Make yourself at home

Good food.
Good people.
That’s our kind of evening.

Since opening in September 1993, Streetly Balti has brought the hospitality of Sylhet to this corner of Sutton Coldfield. Shab and his family continue that welcome today.

Our kitchen is rooted in Bangladesh, with a menu shaped by India and the wider subcontinent too. Familiar curry-house favourites sit comfortably beside bright street-food flavours and new creations.

Where it all began

Our story

Where it all began.

01

Food, family and the stories in between.

In Sylhet, food has always been about more than simply eating. It is roadside tea and market snacks. Home-cooked feasts shared with family and friends. The pleasure of pulling up another chair, and the memories made around a generous table.

02

Where every street has a flavour.

Lush landscapes give way to bustling markets. A cup of tea invites you to stop; the smell of street food invites you to stay. These everyday moments, and the people who share them, are at the heart of our story.

03

A welcome that came with us.

Those memories and traditions travelled with us to Streetly. Jamal Uddin, Imam Uddin and Shab Uddin, all from Sylhet in Bangladesh, opened Streetly Balti in September 1993. The restaurant became a place to share a little of where they came from.

04

Rooted in Sylhet. Open to the world.

Over the years, our kitchen has been inspired by flavours, techniques and traditions from Bangladesh, India and across the wider subcontinent. Our roots are Sylheti; our menu brings many food stories together.

05

Streetly Balti, today.

Shab and his family carry the welcome forward. The 2026 menu moves from Street Starters to Signature Mains, Biryani House, the Tandoori Grill and fresh, vibrant bowls. Familiar favourites and new discoveries all have a home here.

06

The journey continues.

To everyone who has shared a meal with us: thank you. Your support inspires the food we prepare and the hospitality we offer. From our kitchen to your table, we look forward to the next chapter.

The Bangladesh journal

Through the Eyes
of Shab.

My travels through Bangladesh have been a journey of discovery, exploring its rich culture, vibrant streets, beautiful landscapes and the people who make it so special.

Every photograph of Bangladesh featured in this menu and on our website was personally captured by me during my travels across Bangladesh.

These are not simply images. They are memories, experiences and moments that tell the story of a country close to my heart.

Through my photography and the food we serve, I hope to share a little of the beauty, warmth and authentic flavours of Bangladesh with you.
